Brightside Academy Partners with Soundview and Mott Haven Community Partnership for Family Harvest Festival

(Bronx, NY December 16, 2014) – Brightside Academy in conjunction with Soundview and Mott Haven Community Partnership, a community outreach organization supporting families and neighborhoods across New York, hosted successful Family Harvest Events November 21 at Brightside Academy’s 331 East 150th Street location, and November 22 at the Soundview Houses in the Bronx.

Brightside Academy was able to help over 200 families in the Bronx community this harvest season, while working with local partners in the area to provide free dental and health screenings for families. Harvest season is a time when different organizations show their thanks for the crops and climates each year.

Healthplex, the largest dental administrator in New York, provided free dental screenings to children between the ages of 2-21, while Urban Health Plan, a federally qualified community health center in the Bronx, provided medical screenings and valuable health information to those in attendance. Fidelis Care, the New York State Catholic Health Plan provider, also assisted in the Family Harvest events by providing insurance information and 25 gift certificates to Bronx community families to assist with purchasing holiday dinners.

“We were very pleased with the turn out, and thankful to the organizations that were able to assist us in hosting the Family Harvest Events,” stated Brightside Academy Community Coordinator, Rocio Garcia. “We plan to continue working with the community to provide health and safety information to our families”. Ms. Garcia is a Co-chair at Soundview CPP and Co-chair of a group at Mott Haven.

Brightside Academy understands the importance of family health, and strives to bring awareness to the communities where it is located. The organization is proud to work with local partners to help families make healthy choices.
