Job Title: Area Manager
Reports To: Vice President of Operations
Status: Level II (Exempt)
Description:
An Area Manager is responsible for supervising the day-to-day operations of his/her centers within his/her responsible area (an area is comprised of centers with the Directors of those centers reporting to the Area Manager) to insure they meet or exceed the goals of the Company by supporting its values.
Qualifications/Requirements:
A successful Area Manager must be able to adequately perform each essential duty, and have the following education and experience:
- A degree in Early Childhood Education is desired plus a minimum of two years management or supervisory role.
- Training experience.
- Able to attend corporate meetings and travel overnight.
- Able to communicate effectively via the telephone, in writing and in person.
- Able to function independently without constant supervision.
- Able to work nights and weekends when required.
- Able to solve complex, non-routine problems.
- Able to lift 10 to 60 lbs.
Essential Duties:
- Provides leadership and guidance to Directors.
- Meets Center and area enrollment and operating profit objectives.
- Maintain Centers in compliance with federal, state and/or local regulations.
- Ensure that Centers adhere to Brightside Academy 'spolicy, procedures and brand assurance standards.
- Works collaboratively with the other departments.
- Food Services - Support catering in complying with CACFP record keeping and requirements.
- HR Department - In order to recruit, hire and train directors, support staff and care givers. Promote further education.
- Collections Department - ensure the timely and accurate submission of requirements.
- Transportation Department - work closely with dispatch to ensure timely and safe transportation.
- When requested, assist with the opening of new centers.
- When requested, assist with mentoring new AMs.
- Constructs action plans and gives timely feedback to each Director to guide them in maximizing their potential and that of their facility.
- Marketing and community involvement.
- Spends approximately 80% of time in Centers.
- Financial Management
- Monitors the accuracy of accounts and manages the collection of amounts due.
- Controls expenses associated with supporting the area position.
- Follows appropriation and payable guidelines. Reviews operating reports with Directors and scrutinizes center expenditures.
- Train directors to manage staffing schedules that meet the demands of the center.
- Program Administration
- Ensures that the director is training and developing the staff to implement Brightside Academy's curriculum and practices.
- Guides the centers through the applicable quality assurance standard(s) certification(s).
- All other duties as assigned.
