In July 1992, Brightside Academy was founded in Pittsburgh, PA, where it is currently headquartered. While we did not immediately recognize the need for subsidized child care services, over time we realized the tremendous shortage of quality child care available to the residents of inner-city, urban communities and began to specialize in offering such services. 

Currently, our company is the largest provider of subsidized child care services in the state of Pennsylvania, operating academies in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia.

The child care industry is a large market and is divided into two sectors, private and public. Studies have shown that there are twice as many available licensed child care spaces in affluent markets than there are in the inner city market on a per child basis. Brightside Academy is positioned to become the national standard for inner-city child care and an integral tool for economic development efforts in cities around the country.

As a result of the hard work and commitment of all of the company’s employees, Brightside Academy has been growing in Pennsylvania, Ohio and New York – with more areas on the horizon! Brightside Academy has become one of the largest providers of quality child care in inner-city communities across the country.
