Leadership Team

Brightside Academy is a company made up of strong, talented individuals including the company's leadership team. Each leadership team member is an expert in a specific field that helps the company to grow and prosper. Knowing that child care involves more than just babysitting services, the company's leadership, along with their respective teams, work to provide all families access to an excellent educational experience for their children.

 

Mark Kehoe


Mark Kehoe, Chief Executive Officer    
Mark Kehoe became Brightside Academy's Chief Executive Officer in September 2009. His past experience was with Quest Diagnostics, Inc. for 20 years. During Kehoe's tenure with Quest Diagnostics, he held the positions of managing director, mid-Atlantic business unit, a $280 million business serving 28,000 patients a day in four states with over 1,500 employees; national director of product deployment where he was responsible for the genomic and esoteric testing business; regional vice president, sales and marketing for New England; and vice president, sales and marketing for the Philadelphia business unit. Kehoe holds a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Bloomsburg University. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Make-a-Wish - Southwestern Pennsylvania Chapter.

  
John Eliopoulos
 
John Eliopoulos, Sr. Director, Business Development
John Eliopoulos is a long-tenured Brightside Academy employee. He started with the company in 1995 and has served in several key management roles including general manager, accounts receivable manager, director of market analysis/development and most recently senior director of business development. Eliopoulos's general management and strategic experience in multi-site, growth focused, high quality child care settings has helped the company expand from two locations to over 60 in multiple cities throughout Pennsylvania, Ohio and New York. He has led the real estate development of over 750,000 square feet of commercial to become first class early educational experiences. Eliopoulos is a University of Pittsburgh graduate with a degree in Biology and holds National and Pennsylvania State Real Estate Licensures. He is active in fundraising for national and regional non-profit organizations including the Pittsburgh Community Food Bank and Central Blood Bank and has held leadership positions in neighborhood and church organizations.
 
  
Beth Swaney
 
Letta Simon, Vice President, Academy Operations

Letta Simon joined Brightside Academy in September 2012 coming from EverFi, Inc., a K-12 education technology company specializing in the delivery of critical life skills curricula. Additionally, she was the Vice President, Institutional Services at Educate, Inc., a Sylvan Learning company, where she was responsible for the supplemental education services as required by No Child Left Behind regulations. Prior to that she was a consultant for the State of Maryland providing training and implementation support to Head Start sites. She earned her BA in Communication Studies from Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland. Simon is responsible for academy operations.


  
Beth Swaney
 
Beth Swaney, Director, Communications/Community Relations
Beth Swaney joined Brightside Academy in April 2010 and has over 20 years experience in marketing and communication roles. She is responsible for the company's communication, public relations and marketing efforts. Swaney's experience includes marketing and communication roles with Acosta Sales and Marketing Company, Quest Diagnostics, Inc. and Nextel Communications. She is a graduate of Robert Morris University with a Bachelor's degree in Marketing. She has served on various church communication committees and volunteered with local organizations in Pittsburgh to support at-risk children.
 
  
Corky Tate
 
Albert "Corky" Tate, Chief Information Officer/Vice President, Ancillary Services
Corky Tate joined Brightside Academy in April 2009 and is responsible for the oversight of strategic information technology, project office, process engineering, facilities management, food services and fleet/transportation management. He spent over 30 years with Quest Diagnostics, Inc. serving in a number of information technology related senior management roles, most recently serving as vice president of software development assigned to their MedPlus subsidiary. Tate was the named inventor on a number of technology related patents. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Pennsylvania State University, is an alumni of the Center for Creative Leadership with advanced studies at Carnegie-Mellon/SEI and the California Institute of Technology. Tate is actively involved in the community, specifically with the Boy Scouts of America.

Colette Woodling, Vice President, Business Services
Colette Woodling
joined Brightside Academy in February 2000 and is responsible for all accounting functions, grant administration and CACFP compliance in addition to human resources. She has over 30 years experience in accounting and compliance roles. Prior to Brightside Academy, Colette has been in leadership roles in various industries such as service, distribution and manufacturing. She was the controller at Igate (formally known as Mastech), an international multi-service computer systems provider, where she played an important role through their IPO in 1996. She is a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting.
